Just Flow!

Hello Friends!  Whew!  If you are anything like us, now that spring has sprung and summer is nearly upon us, you are busier than ever!  Graduations, celebrations, sporting events, work, family time, mowing (an MORE mowing for some of us!!), gardening, wrapping up a school year, making summer plans, the list goes on!  We feel you because we are there, too.

It's so easy to be caught in the rapids of so many good and necessary things!  That is when Brian and I ask ourselves "What are we doing to refresh? To take care of ourselves so we can be our best selves?"  We'd like to ask you the same thing!

Bob Ross loved painting flowing waterfalls.

It is an indisputable fact that taking time for hobbies and fun is good for both our minds and our bodies.  We hear from customers like you all the time how they find our classes "therapeutic," "relaxing," and "fun!"  Hearing that makes us sooo happy!

One concept I have been thinking a lot about is flow. I like the image of serenely floating along with the current, as opposed to being jostled and tossed about in the busy, busy rapids! Sometimes we have to purposely remove ourselves from the rushing river of life's obligations and choose to do something restful. When I'm really into a painting, time just seems to melt away. During a 4 hour Bob Ross painting class, folks will often say, "Whoa, we've been painting how long? Feels like we just started!" That's being in the flow!

An article I read recently by wellness coach Elizabeth Scott, MS, had this to say about flow: "Flow- Losing track of time when you’re absorbed in fulfilling work or another engaging activity, ‘flow’ is a familiar state for most of us. This is what happens when you get deeply involved in a hobby, in learning something new, or in performing an activity that supplies just the right mix of challenge and ease." *

Art is one of many things that produces that mix of "challenge and ease" and takes our mind down a river of fun! What gets you in the flow? Comment and let us know!
